In today's world, mail is used for far more than just communication. It's used for various silo'd use cases - sharing photos, trip itineraries, planning events, etc. In a constantly overwhelming and cluttered inbox, how can we help users organize and prioritize?
I was the design lead for the launch of an entirely new brand & product offering. Alto mail helps highlight the most relevant information when and where it's needed most.
MESSAGE LIST | NAVIGATION | STACKS
Stacks help you organize your mail based on what’s in it, not just who sent it or when it was received. Quickly find those lost photos or important documents with a few simple taps.
Cards surface up important details that can be buried in your mail such as shipping dates and flight departure times. Not every message in your inbox is of the same importance, so why should they be treated equally?
SINGLE + THREADED MESSAGES | COMPOSE
Product innovation is rooted in understanding real customer needs and solving for those in the most effective way. We worked in sprint cycles, validating assumptions with real users, in order to learn and move forward as quick as possible. Whiteboard sessions, user testing, rapid prototyping and more - were all done with relentless focus on what matters to customers.
MOTION + PROTOTYPES
I created numerous prototypes (InVision, Pixate) and motion tests (After Effects). Not only did these help give context to our design concepts, they were also powerful aids when telling our product story and how it could help users.
I storyboarded, designed and animated a promotional video that showcases Alto's features & benefits in a fun, quickly consumable way. This was used throughout marketing materials, the app store and in the press to help tell the Alto story and its value proposition.
